I believed in déjà vu, ESP, or prescience—
whatever one cares to call it—because I had lived it,
experienced it; it had saved my life. But the
fundamentalist, hard core, charismatic church
I was forced to attend as a child called
such foreknowledge Satanic: the work of the Devil.

But I knew, even as a youth, that Satan,
or his hordes of demons, or evil
incarnate is not prescient—it is not equal with God.
Prescience is a gift of His Light.
I am His child,
filled with His Spirit,
and where God’s Holy Spirit dwells,
there is no shadow of Darkness.
